2005 Volvo C70 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out to Moonlight Beach on a Saturday morning. The guy had his 2005 C70 parked near the lot, and he had a story to tell before I even opened my bag.
He'd found a locksmith through a banner ad a few weeks before. Cheap number, no details. The tech who showed up had a generic key tool that couldn't talk to the body control module on this car. An hour of nothing, a made-up excuse about needing a special part, and a bill that was way more than the phone quote. He paid it. The key never worked.
By the time he called me he was doing ignition starts only, no remote function, and he was nervous about losing the key entirely because he only had the one.
I gave him my BSIS license number right on the phone. He pulled it up while we were still talking, which is exactly the right move.
I pulled up to the C70, got into the fob, found the CR2032 was original and reading low. Swapped it first. Remote range came back a little but not fully. That told me the battery wasn't the whole story.
Ran the programming sequence through the diagnostic port with the right tool for this platform. The body control module did its handshake, accepted the fob, and we walked all five buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, and the rest. Everything live.
He asked what the dealer would have charged and how long it would have taken. I told him the dealer route on a 2005 like this usually means ordering a fob, scheduling a programming appointment, and coming back. His total with me was a fraction of that, done in the parking lot, same morning he called.
He said he wished he'd skipped the first guy entirely. I told him to save my number.
