2022 Volvo S90 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call on a weekday afternoon from a guy in the Bancroft area of Spring Valley. He'd already had a bad experience before he ever dialed my number, so the conversation started with skepticism, which is fair.
He'd found a cheap ad online, called a locksmith who showed up with tools that couldn't talk to his S90 at all. Spent an hour pretending, charged him a serious amount of money, and left. The key didn't work. The car still needed service. He was out cash and still stranded.
When he called me, the first thing he asked was how to verify I was actually licensed. I gave him my BSIS number while we were still on the phone. He pulled it up before he finished asking the question. That's exactly how it should go.
I drove out to him in Bancroft. The S90 is one of those jobs where having the right diagnostic equipment isn't optional. The fob has to be enrolled through the vehicle's central electronics module with a proper handshake. There's no ignition-turn trick, no button sequence, no workaround. The tool either speaks the protocol or it doesn't.
Mine does. I ran the enrollment, confirmed all four buttons were responding, confirmed the engine start was clean. Took me a focused half hour on site.
He'd already paid the scam locksmith more than I charged him for a completed job. He didn't say much about that. He just watched the whole process, asked one or two questions, and seemed relieved to watch it actually work. I get that reaction a lot.
