1995 Acura NSX Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in Goleta near the Camino Real Marketplace, an NSX owner flagged me down for what sounded simple. He had one key left, a worn original with the 4-digit code barely visible on the blade, and he wanted a spare before that last key gave out on him.

Simple, except for the part where it's an NSX.

The 1995 runs a double-sided mechanical key on an ILCO HD99-P blank. No chip, no programming, just the cut. But 30 years of use had worn his ignition lock enough that the tolerances were tight. A sloppy copy would slide in and turn the doors but hang up in the ignition, maybe even get stuck. I've read enough forum threads about NSX owners jamming bad copies in the cylinder to know that's a real outcome on these cars.

I cut the new key by code off the 4-digit number on his original, not by tracing the worn blade. That's the difference. A trace copy inherits every bit of wear. A code cut gives you factory-spec depths on both sides. I aligned the blank, flipped for the second pass, and checked both profiles before I let it near the ignition.

New key turned every lock on the car. Doors, trunk, glovebox, ignition. He stood there holding both keys like he was weighing them. Told me his dealer wanted him to leave the car for two days and come back.

He kept his car. I kept it under 20 minutes.
