1997 Acura NSX Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in the Old Town Goleta area, a guy called about his 1997 NSX. He was older, used a cane, and didn't drive much anymore, but the car got him to medical appointments and he needed it running. His only key had a blade that was getting harder and harder to turn, and the immobilizer was acting up. The green key light on the dash would blink instead of going solid, which meant the Megamos 13 chip was barely being read. Getting to a dealer was its own whole problem for him, and his daughter who usually helped was out of town.

I went to his building that morning. The NSX sits on the HON58R keyway, an 8-cut double-sided blade, so I used my Lishi HON58R to decode the lock and verify the bitting. His ignition tumblers were worn from almost thirty years of the same key going in and out. Cut a fresh HD106-PT blank, programmed the ID 13 transponder through the HDS diagnostic port, and the green key light did exactly what it should: on for two seconds, off.

He watched the whole thing from about four feet away, leaning on his cane. Didn't say much until the engine turned over clean, then just nodded like something heavy had lifted.

He didn't have to leave his building or wait on anybody else's schedule.
