I got a call in Goleta at Hollister Village Plaza for a 1999 Acura NSX that would crank, then sit there with the immobilizer indicator blinking. Owner had one key, but it was acting random.
That green key light is the tell on these. The NSX owner manual says if the key is not recognized, the indicator blinks and the engine will not start. It also calls out a weird one that I see in real life all the time. Too many keys or metal hanging near the ignition can mess with the read.
I checked the existing key first, then cut a fresh HD106-PT transponder blank and handled the programming side with Honda/Acura immobilizer tooling. On this era, you are dealing with the older Acura setup with master, valet, and even a separate learning key in the original kit, so I always ask what keys the owner still has before I touch memory. The older Acura bulletin flow on these systems is picky about that. (Auto Electronics 101)
I tested start cycles back to back, then had the owner do it with her full key ring and again with just the NSX key. Clean starts with the single key. She left with a working spare and a simple habit change, which saved a good chunk versus the dealer path and the whole tow problem.
