In Ventura, over near the Saticoy area, an older gentleman called about his 2004 NSX. He leaned on a cane and did not drive much, but the car got him to medical appointments and he needed it running. His only key had a remote that quit responding and the blade was getting harder to turn in the ignition. His daughter usually helped with errands but she was out of town that week. Getting to a dealer across town was not going to happen.
I drove out that morning. The NSX uses the HON66 keyway, so I ran my Lishi to decode the lock and verify the bitting, then cut a fresh blade. The transponder is a Megamos ID 13 chip, same T5 platform Honda used on the RL and Prelude. Programmed it through OBD using the immobilizer code pulled from Honda's system. The 3-button remote, P/N 72147-SL0-A02, paired through the on-board key cycle method that works on the 2004 and 2005 NSX cars.
Before I left, I showed him the CR2025 in the remote and how to swap it so he would know before it died on him again. He did not have to leave his building, call his daughter, or figure out a ride to a dealer. One visit, one parking lot, done.
