In Ventura, over by Cemetery Memorial Park, a physical therapist needed a spare key for her 2004 Acura RL between patients.
She had her VIN, registration, and ID ready. Best part? She had one working master key, so I could do a clean add-a-key instead of an all-keys-lost immobilizer reset.
This RL takes the HD106-PT style transponder key. Common OEM cross references are 35113-SZ3-A01 and 35113-S6M-A00, and it runs on a Megamos 13 chip family under Acura’s Type 1 immobilizer system.
I duplicated the mechanical cut first. Then I used my transponder equipment to read the encrypted ID from her existing master key and program a fresh chip matched to that immobilizer system. No trial and error, no “let’s see if it works.”
We walked out and did the only test that matters: key in, ON, start. Off. Start again. The immobilizer light came on briefly, then went out—exactly what it should do—and the RL fired up both times.
She grabbed the spare, checked her schedule, and went straight back to work. Dealer route would’ve meant scheduling, towing if she lost that last key, and potentially leaving the car.
