In Ventura, over in Seaside Park, I met a 2005 RL owner who was down to one fob held together by hope. The shell was cracked at the seam, the HD103 emergency insert had visible play in the slot, and she kept patting her pocket like it was about to disappear.
This RL is the first year of the second-gen KB1 chassis, and Acura made Keyless Access the headline feature. No ignition cylinder you turn with a blade. The whole system runs through the proximity fob, FCC ID ACJ8D8E24A04, talking to the Keyless Access main unit and the LF antenna network spread across the car. No on-off programming trick exists for this platform.
She said the dealer quoted her a wait for parts, plus scheduling, plus half a day without the car. I had the correct Driver 1 fob assembly (72147-SJA-A01) on hand, cut a fresh HD103 emergency insert, and registered it through the diagnostic port to the Keyless Access main unit right there in her driveway.
Then the boring part that tells the truth: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, two start cycles with the new fob in a different pocket each time. When everything behaved, she finally stopped death-gripping the old one.
