Santa Barbara call, Goleta Beach Park. A 1996 Acura RL sitting in an underground garage with a ceiling so low a flatbed couldn't touch it. The owner only had one key left, and it was chewed up pretty good.
She sat in the driver's seat and turned to ON, then just stared at the instrument cluster. That little green key icon had her convinced the car was about to strand her for real. She said the dealer quoted weeks because the OEM keyless transmitter assembly 72147-SZ3-A02 is discontinued and they wanted to order parts before even looking at it.
I set up on the hood. Cut a fresh HD106-PT blade using her worn original as a reference, then cloned the Megamos ID13 transponder data onto a new key head. Slid it in the ignition, the RL fired, and she let out a breath she'd been holding since she called.
Then she handed me the keyless remote. Separate unit on these, not built into the key. Dead CR2025. I swapped the cell, resynced the CWT72147KA transmitter, and walked every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. All four clean.
Her car never left the spot. She got a working spare and a fresh remote battery without the dealership runaround, for a fraction of what they wanted.
