In Santa Barbara, out near Gaviota State Park, I got a call about a 1999 Acura RL with a dog in the back seat and the keys sitting on the passenger side where nobody could reach them.

Before I packed up, I cut her a spare transponder key. HD106-PT blank, Megamos ID13 chip, registered to the immobilizer through the ECU. Ran multiple start cycles so she could watch it behave the same as the original. The dealer route meant leaving the car somewhere and waiting days. We handled everything right there in the park, dog included.
