2009 Acura RL MECHANICAL-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

In Downtown Ventura, I got a call for a 2009 Acura RL where the smart key fob was physically falling apart.

The case had split at the seam and the rubber button pad was starting to slide out of position. He could still use it, but every press was a gamble. The remote flexed in his hand and half the time the lock command would not register.

I popped the fob open on the hood so he could see what I was seeing. Board was intact, contacts clean, the common E058 marking on the PCB found in these RL remotes, FCC ID ACJ8D8E24A04 running at 314 MHz. No water damage, no corrosion. This was a housing failure, not an electronics problem.

On this RL the fob assembly is either 72147-SJA-A01 for Memory 1 or 72147-SJA-A11 for Memory 2. Inside the insert blade (35111-SJA-305) sits an ID46 chip, the PCF7936 transponder that handles immobilizer authorization.

I transferred his original board and blade into a fresh shell, seated everything properly, dropped in a new CR2025, and ran through every function: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and a push-button start cycle. All solid.

Same working guts, just housing that was not trying to fall apart in his pocket. He stood there clicking it a few extra times with this look like he forgot what a button press was supposed to feel like.

Handled it on site in Downtown Ventura. Saved him a good chunk over the dealer assembly replacement route.
