A soccer league coach at the community center lot near Conejo Community Park on a Saturday told me he'd already been burned. Another locksmith charged him full price for a 2015 Buick Lacrosse key that never programmed correctly. The car would crank but the theft-deterrent system killed fuel injection after two seconds. The BCM wasn't dead. It had a locksmith problem, not a module problem. GM's theft-deterrent system requires a specific security access procedure with a timed window. I cleared the faulted key entry, properly entered the BCM security access window, and ran a clean PK3 relearn. His smart fob, FCC ID OHT01060512, had all 5 buttons working plus a clean start with no fuel cutoff. I showed him the confirmation on my screen.
He paid me 185. A dealer charges 395 for the same work. The difference on Buick is that the theft-deterrent system is particular, and a locksmith who's never touched one will fail.
