2006 Buick Lacrosse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in La Conchita, just off the PCH, who needed a key made for his 2006 Buick LaCrosse. Not an emergency exactly, but close enough.
He was dealing with something personal, moving some things around after a rough week, and his only working key had snapped in the door lock. The blade was clean but the head cracked at the bow, right where the transponder sits.
He asked me upfront if the chip inside was ruined. Honest answer: sometimes they survive a clean break and sometimes they don't. You test it before you cut anything new.
I drove out and met him in the lot near his place. Decoded the blade from the lock cylinder, cut a new key blank to match, programmed the transponder on site through the OBD port. The whole thing took about forty minutes including the test starts and making sure the security light cleared and stayed off.
He mentioned he'd called the dealer first. They told him to have it towed in because they couldn't guarantee same-day, and the key would need to be ordered. That was going to stretch into a multi-day situation for someone who needed his car that afternoon.
He had a working key before I pulled out of the lot. That's the job.
