Out near the Mission San Luis Rey area in Oceanside, I got a call from a woman who'd had the same key for years without a problem. Then one morning it just stopped working. Not the ignition, the remote. She could still start the car, but the fob buttons did nothing. She figured it was the battery, swapped it herself, and the remote came back briefly, then went dead again a few days later.
