2017 Buick Envision Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
The call came in from a parking lot just outside Lemon Grove, near the Encanto Border side. A sales rep was at a hotel conference, hours from home, and had zero keys for his 2017 Buick Envision. Not a dead fob, not a lost fob. Zero. The car was just sitting there.
He told me two other locksmiths had already turned the job down. One told him it wasn't possible in the field. The other said he needed a dealer and a flatbed.
I drove out to the lot. The Envision uses a GM smart key architecture that I work on regularly across multiple GM brands, so the all-keys-lost procedure was familiar ground. I connected through the OBD port, ran the security protocol, and let the timed countdown do what it does. There is no skipping that window. You just work clean and wait.
New fob, registered to the body control module. Car woke up, detected the key, started without complaint. He had his fob tested on all five buttons before I packed up.
He made his meeting. The dealer comparison came up briefly, and I told him what I tell everyone: same result, you stayed in the lot instead of waiting for a flatbed. That was the whole conversation.
