2022 Buick Envision
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: Why would I call you instead of just towing it to the dealer?

Because towing costs money before any key work even starts, and then you're waiting on a dealer's schedule on top of that. I come to your location and handle the cut, the programming, and the full button test right there. No drop-off, no callback, no waiting two days for a parts order. And what I charge for the whole job is a fraction of what the dealer route ends up costing once you add everything together.

Q: What do I need to show you to prove the car is mine?

A valid photo ID and your registration or title. I confirm the VIN from the dash or the door jamb before I start any work -- that's non-negotiable. Same requirement a dealer would have, except I verify it on site in about two minutes instead of asking you to fax anything or show up with a stack of paperwork.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online. Can you just program it, or do I need to buy one from you?

If it's the correct fob for a 2022 Envision and the factory FCC ID on it matches your vehicle's spec, there's a real chance I can program it. Bring it and I'll check it before we go any further. That said, not every aftermarket or used fob survives the enrollment process -- some have been previously locked to another vehicle or come with hardware that doesn't handshake cleanly. If it doesn't take, I carry blanks that will.

Q: My fob still unlocks the doors but the car won't start. What's going on?

That combination -- remote functions work but no start -- usually points to a communication issue between the fob and the immobilizer at the moment of the start attempt. The fob's RF side handles lock and unlock at a distance, but the vehicle also needs to read the fob's security credential up close when you press the start button.

2022 Buick Envision Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Sweetwater, near one of those newer mixed-use condo lots off the main strip, I got a call from a guy who had been trying to solve this for about a week. Architecture student, which I only know because he told me while I was working -- mentioned he kept drafting solutions on paper before realizing he just needed to call someone.

His 2022 Buick Envision, one key. He'd lost the spare a while back and kept meaning to deal with it. Then he left his only fob inside the car, doors locked, and the week's procrastination caught up with him all at once.

He'd called two shops. One said they didn't stock blanks for current Buick crossovers. The other quoted him a parts delay. The dealer gave him a scheduling window and a number that made him pause.

I drove out to him. Got into the vehicle, decoded the door mechanically so I could cut the emergency blade, then went through the fob enrollment via the OBD port with my scan tool. The whole job -- cutting, programming, walking every button, testing the proximity detection at the door handle -- took about 40 minutes on the asphalt outside his building.

He had a working key and a spare in hand when I left. The dealer option was still sitting in his call history, never touched.

Buick Envision Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

I'm stranded with no working key. Can you actually come to me in Sweetwater?▼

Yes. That is the whole point of what I do. If you and your 2022 Buick Envision are in the Sweetwater area of National City, I drive to you with the tools and key blanks already loaded in the van. You don't arrange a tow, you don't call a ride, you don't sit in a service waiting room. I do the work at the vehicle, wherever it's parked.
