2024 Buick Envision Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy over in Lakeside Proper flagged me down through a text late on a Tuesday. He parks on the street near his place and had been carrying his 2024 Envision fob loose in a jacket pocket for about six months.
The housing had split along the seam, the two halves were held together with a rubber band, and the battery door was completely gone. He said the buttons still worked most of the time if he squeezed the fob while pressing. That is not a plan.
He had already called the dealer. They told him to come in, leave the car, wait for parts, come back. He did not have a day to burn on that.
I met him at his parking spot that evening. The fob internals were actually fine once I got the housing open and looked at the board and battery contacts. No corrosion, no cracked solder points. The job became a shell swap and a fresh CR2450, not a full replacement and reprogramming. Took about twenty minutes on the hood of my van under a work light.
I tested every button, walked the perimeter of the car confirming the passive detection range, and locked him out intentionally once to make sure the mechanical backup in the fob still worked the door cylinder. Everything came back clean.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted for a full OEM fob and a programming appointment. And he did not have to leave his car anywhere.
