1997 Chrysler Concorde Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Otay Mesa West, I got a call from a guy who had been driving his 1997 Chrysler Concorde without any remote for about six months. He had the key, the car ran fine, he just couldn't pop the trunk without walking around and using the key in the lock. His kid had fumbled the fob off a parking structure railing and that was the end of it.
He wasn't in a crisis. He just finally got tired of the inconvenience.
When I pulled up, he met me at the curb with the dealer printout in his hand. He'd gone in mostly out of curiosity, and they'd quoted him a wait of several days and a price that made him put the paper back in his pocket and walk out.
I had a compatible 3-button fob in the van. Same factory FCC ID, same button count. I showed him how I matched it to the spec before touching anything. On a 1997 Concorde, the remote programming is done through a sequence at the vehicle rather than through a scan tool, which kept the job clean and fast. I programmed it right there on the street, tested all three buttons, confirmed the trunk release popped clean, and walked him through swapping the battery himself if it ever needs it down the road.
He folded that dealer printout in half and stuck it in the door pocket. Said he'd keep it as a reminder.
The whole thing took under twenty minutes. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, and he didn't have to leave the car anywhere.
