2001 Chrysler Concorde Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy parked near the Montgomery area of Chula Vista. He had an older Chrysler Concorde, and the car would crank fine but die almost immediately after starting. He had already been to a shop that told him it might be a fuel pump. Nobody had mentioned the immobilizer yet.
He found me through YouTube and had watched enough of my videos to suspect the key before spending money on parts. Smart call.
When I got there, first thing I asked was whether he had a second key. He did not. He had been using the same key for years, and the plastic head had cracked and been repaired with tape a while back. The transponder chip lives inside that plastic head, and tape-and-glue repairs can crack the internal housing around the chip. Enough vibration over time, and the chip stops being read cleanly.
I confirmed the immobilizer was the source of the issue, cut a new key blade to his vehicle, and programmed a fresh transponder to the system on site. Then I did three clean cold starts to confirm the immobilizer was reading the new chip every time without hesitation.
He mentioned the shop had quoted him a fuel pump diagnosis plus labor to pull the tank. He was relieved it did not come to that. The key was the problem all along, and we handled it right there in the lot for a fraction of what that repair route was heading toward.
