A barber at his shop in a strip mall in Ramona asked me directly whether the key would be "as good as dealer." He had a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country and wanted a spare he could trust as his daily FOBIK, not just an emergency backup in a drawer. Fair question, and it deserves an honest answer.
OEM Chrysler FOBIKs come from the factory supplier with the logo, the exact factory finish, and a brand markup. Aftermarket FOBIKs use the same blade profile, same chip type, same button layout, and same circuit board design. The functional difference in daily use is zero if the aftermarket blank is good quality.
I carry aftermarket FOBIK blanks that I've tested on hundreds of Chrysler jobs. The blade is the same Y160 profile cut to the same specs on my machine. The transponder chip is the same generation that Chrysler's SKIM system expects.
