A long-haul commuter pulled over at a highway rest stop in Escondido had his key snap inside the door lock of his 2000 Chrysler Town & Country. The blade broke clean in half. Another locksmith he called first told him the lock cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced. That meant new keys, a new cylinder, and a bill pushing $500. He called me for a second opinion.
I used my Y160 Lishi to extract the broken blade fragment from the lock without scratching the wafer surfaces inside. Once it was out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position, which gave me the exact cut depths for a new key without needing the original. His car used a separate remote fob, FCC ID , and a standalone transponder blade. I cut the new key from the decode and programmed the transponder chip through OBD using the SKIM PIN.
No drilling and no cylinder replacement. His total was $95. The other locksmith's plan would have run $200 or more. His original lock works with the new key exactly like it worked with the old one.
