2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Peutz Valley, in Alpine, I got a call from a guy who'd already been to the dealer. Not for the work, just for the quote. He came home, sat on it for a week, and then reached out.
He had one working fob left on his 2022 Evoque. Not zero keys, just one, and he wanted a spare before that one gave out. The dealer had told him to come in, leave the car, and plan for a wait. The price they gave him was enough that he started looking for alternatives.
I pulled up to his place in the afternoon. He met me in the driveway looking a little skeptical, which is fair. Mobile locksmith showing up to work on a 2022 Land Rover is not what people picture.
I connected to the OBD port, verified the existing key was enrolling correctly, and brought the new fob into the system. The whole process is methodical on these. The key verification module has a timed sequence during enrollment, so you don't rush it. Once it paired, I walked every function: door handles on both sides, liftgate release, the start button, all five fob buttons. Everything confirmed.
He asked me what would have happened if the original key had died before he called. I told him all-keys-lost on this vehicle is still a job we handle, just takes a little longer and the process is different. He nodded and said he was glad he didn't wait to find out.
The dealer comparison came up once, briefly. He already knew the number. He just said "yeah" and that was the end of it.
