2007 Porsche Cayenne
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Porsche Cayenne Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy near Dictionary Hill, up in the hills above Spring Valley where the driveways are stone and the drop from pocket to pavement is a long one.

He had a 2007 Cayenne and a fob that looked like it lost a fight. The car-shaped housing had cracked clean across the nose, and the emergency blade was flopping around inside instead of snapping back into place.

He had already called the Porsche dealer. They told him he needed a completely new key, programmed from scratch. He did not love that answer, so he held the broken fob together with his thumb and forefinger, pointed it at the car, and it still worked. Every button. Engine started fine.

That told me everything. The electronics were not the problem. The plastic was.

I backed up the key data before touching anything, a step I do not skip on these regardless of how simple the job looks. Then I moved his working circuit board into a fresh replacement housing, reseated the blade properly so it locks and releases the way it should, and tested every function at the car. Lock, unlock, trunk release, start. All good.

He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted for a full replacement. The dealer was not wrong that a new programmed key was one solution. It just was not the only solution, and nobody told him that.
