2010 Porsche Cayenne Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a sushi spot near the Bressi Ranch side of Carlsbad that I've driven past more times than I can count. A guy called me from the parking lot there one evening, standing next to his 2010 Porsche Cayenne with a fob that had stopped being recognized by the car. The dash was showing a key warning and the engine wouldn't turn over. He'd already called the dealer.
The dealer told him they'd need to order the key, verify ownership in person, and schedule a separate programming appointment after the part arrived. He was looking at multiple trips and a wait measured in days, not hours. A friend of his had used me for an Audi and told him to call instead.
When I pulled up, he was still in work clothes, clearly just trying to get home. I checked the fob first. The CR2032 was original, meaning it had been in there since at least whenever the previous owner stopped thinking about it. Swapped the battery, tested. Still no communication. The fob itself had lost its pairing, not just its power.
I pulled out my diagnostic equipment, went through the immobilizer registration sequence, and got the replacement fob enrolled. The whole process took right around 35 minutes. He had a working key, tested every function, and drove out of that lot without ever setting foot in a dealership.
He mentioned the dealer quote on the way out, kind of as an aside. It was a lot. He saved a good chunk coming this way, and more importantly, he didn't lose two days of his week.
