In North Park, a woman at her apartment complex had been driving her 2013 FR-S with the one key it came with when she bought it used. She kept meaning to get a spare cut. The car sat parked on the street most of the week, so she didn't think about it much.
Then the shell cracked through at the blade hinge, and when she went to unlock her door one morning, the blade snapped off inside the lock cylinder. She was standing there holding the remote housing in one hand and nothing useful in the other.

I got to her in North Park and started by extracting the blade from the cylinder. Once that was out, I decoded the lock and had the blade profile. The transponder chip inside the broken fob housing was still intact, which mattered. With the chip readable, I didn't have to do a full all-keys-lost procedure. I transferred the chip data, cut two new keys, rehoused everything, and programmed both to the vehicle on site.
She watched the whole thing from her front steps. When I handed her two working keys and showed her the chip I'd pulled from the cracked housing, she held it up like she couldn't believe something that small was the reason the car starts.
She went from zero keys to two in about 30 minutes. If she'd had no key at all with no chip to read, the job would have taken longer and cost more. The dealer, for context, had quoted her a number that made her put it off for weeks. Mobile, on-site, same result.
