A driver at a gas station off the freeway near Old Poway had his key go stiff in the ignition of his 2013 Scion IQ. The blade was worn thin and the wafers were catching. He could feel it was about to snap and didn't want to force it.
I used my TOY43 Lishi to decode the lock from the door side where the wafers were clean, then cut a fresh blade and programmed the transponder through OBD. His key, FCC ID MOZB41TG, was a 3-button remote head. The chip learn took one OBD cycle and the car started on the first turn.
He was back on the freeway in under an hour from when he called. Total was $185. Dealer would have charged $395 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. For Scion models on the Toyota platform, a worn blade at a gas station is one of the quickest jobs I handle.
