I got a call from a guy parked in the visitor lot of an apartment complex near Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad. He'd been driving a 2006 Subaru Tribeca as his only car, no spare, and the key head had cracked at the base where the plastic meets the blade. I ran the programming sequence through the OBD port, confirmed the engine started and held idle without any warning on the dash, and tested it through two full key cycles before I called it done.
Total time on site was under 45 minutes. He kept the cracked original as a backup once I confirmed it still programmed correctly and the blade hadn't separated. Two working keys instead of zero. That's the job.
