2009 Volkswagen Touareg Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Shadowridge, there's a swim school tucked into one of those parking lots that fills up fast on weekday mornings. I got a call from a dad who'd been watching his flip key slowly come apart at the hinge for about two weeks. He knew it was going to fail. He just couldn't find a window to do anything about it.
He had twin toddlers, one car, and a schedule built around nap times and swim lessons. The dealer wanted the vehicle dropped off for a few hours. That wasn't a real option for him. One car means one car.
We set it up for a Tuesday morning during the lesson block. I pulled into the lot while the instructor took the twins into the water. The key shell had cracked at the hinge, the kind of split that starts small and then one day the blade just flops loose entirely. The electronics inside were still good.
I decoded the lock, cut a fresh blade, transferred the working internals into a new shell with a clean hinge, and ran the programming through the OBD port. Tested the remote functions, tested ignition, walked through everything while standing next to the car. The whole job was wrapped up before the lesson ended.
The twins came out dripping and he loaded them into their seats and left. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and he never had to hand the car over to anyone.
