Do you need to tow your 2010 Volkswagen Touareg to the dealer? Almost certainly not. For most VW models from the mid-2000s through the early 2020s, I handle all-keys-lost right at the car.

Total was $194. Dealer would have been $399 plus the tow. There are some very new MQB VW platforms where AKL requires bench access to the cluster or dealer-level online authorization. Those can push into dealer territory. But for the majority of VWs on the road, I handle AKL on-site. If yours is an exception, I'll tell you straight.
