2015 Volkswagen Touareg Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Buena Creek, a rideshare driver flagged me down at a tire shop on a weekday midday. He had a 2015 Volkswagen Touareg and a flip key that had stopped communicating with the car.
Not lost, not broken in the lock -- it was just dead to the vehicle. The remote would not lock or unlock, and more importantly, the car would not recognize it as a valid start key.
He had already called the VW dealer. Friday appointment. Drop the car. Wait for them to get to it. He told me that without any drama, just matter-of-fact, the way someone says something that has already cost them money before they even finish the sentence. He drives for a living. Four days without the car is not an inconvenience, it is lost income.
I plugged into the OBD port and ran the key relearn sequence. The security access processing took the longest -- that is not tool speed, that is the system doing what it does. While it processed, I cut a fresh blade and checked the flip housing. By the time the blade was ready, the system had cleared the old corrupted key data and was ready to accept the new registration. Engine start confirmed, remote functions confirmed, all good. Total time at the tire shop was about 25 minutes of active work.
He was back on the road picking up rides that same afternoon. The dealer comparison barely came up -- he already knew the math. Four days versus same day. He did not need me to explain it.
