I got a call from a condo board president in Downtown Oceanside. Her TLX was on the lowest level of an underground parking structure, tight ceiling, sharp turns. No flatbed was getting in there. The fob had taken some kind of impact at some point and the internal components had shifted. The backup blade still extended fine, but the fob itself wasn't communicating. With that second key present, I could register the new fob to the vehicle's security system using my diagnostic equipment right there in the garage, no lift, no shop, no tow.
I built the replacement fob on site, programmed it through the OBD port, tested every function including proximity entry at both front doors and the trunk release, and handed it to her while she was still standing next to her car.
