2022 Acura TLX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2022 Acura TLX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a condo board president in Downtown Oceanside. Her TLX was on the lowest level of an underground parking structure, tight ceiling, sharp turns. No flatbed was getting in there. The dealer told her to figure out how to get the car to them first, which she couldn't do without a working key. A real catch-22.

I parked on the street and walked down with my bag.

The fob had taken some kind of impact at some point and the internal components had shifted. The backup blade still extended fine, but the fob itself wasn't communicating. She had one working key left, which made the job cleaner. With that second key present, I could register the new fob to the vehicle's security system using my diagnostic equipment right there in the garage, no lift, no shop, no tow.

I built the replacement fob on site, programmed it through the OBD port, tested every function including proximity entry at both front doors and the trunk release, and handed it to her while she was still standing next to her car.

The car never moved until she drove it out herself. She mentioned what the dealer quoted her after she'd already figured out the tow situation would cost extra on top. I didn't need to say anything. She already knew what she'd saved.
