2017 Audi A3
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2017 Audi A3 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already working in El Cajon that Friday night when the call came in from Crest.

A couple had come out after a late anniversary dinner to find their 2017 Audi A3 completely unresponsive. The flip key was dead. No lock, no unlock, nothing. They tried the blade on the driver door handle and hit a second problem: the door did not want to cooperate the way they expected. They were standing in a parking lot at 9pm thinking the car was staying put until Monday.

I was fifteen minutes out. That part matters because I stock the right key blanks, flip shells, and a CR2032 for this exact vehicle in labeled drawers behind my seat. I do not order parts when you call.

When I got there I opened the fob, seated a fresh CR2032, and tested the remote. Nothing. The battery fix alone did not bring it back, which told me the pairing had dropped. I connected to the OBD port, verified the key count in the system, and re-registered the flip key to the immobilizer. First turn of the ignition, the car started clean.

The whole job took about twenty-five minutes on site. They asked what the dealer would have done. I told them: appointment Monday at the earliest, probably longer with parts lead time, and the bill would have been a good chunk more than what they paid me. They drove home that same night.

A 9pm Friday call in Crest is the same job as a 9am Tuesday call. When the parts are already in the van, the only variable is drive time.
