The right move is a proper extraction with picks and hooks sized for the cylinder, getting the fragment out without scoring the wafer stack inside.

Once the broken piece is out, we cut a new blade to your vehicle using the original key code on file or by decoding the lock itself. If the transponder chip in the old key head survived intact, we can sometimes read the existing data and carry it forward. If neither key works, or if the engine cranks and immediately stalls, that points to the immobilizer not recognizing any key at all. That can happen after a major battery event, a module communication fault, or in rare cases after a component replacement on the vehicle side. At that point the diagnosis is on the car, not just the key. I can pull fault data from the OBD port on site and tell you whether the issue is the key, the immobilizer circuit, or something talking to it from elsewhere in the electronics.

All-keys-lost on this generation of Audi is a longer job. The immobilizer has to be accessed differently when there is no recognized key to reference, and the procedure takes more time. If you are down to one key and it is already showing wear, do not wait.

I bought a replacement key blank online. Can you just program it for me?

Depends on what you bought. If the blank is the right profile for a 2021 A3 ignition cylinder and carries a compatible transponder chip, there is a reasonable chance we can work with it. The blade still needs to be cut to your vehicle regardless of where it came from.

The chip is where online purchases get complicated. Not every blank sold as "compatible" carries a chip that the Audi immobilizer will actually accept. Some pass initial enrollment and fail later. Some will not enroll at all. If you bring me a blank and the chip turns out to be wrong for this vehicle, I will tell you on site before you waste the enrollment attempt. Sometimes the honest answer is that the blank you have will not work, and a correct one needs to be sourced.
