2016 Audi A5 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in Peutz Valley in Alpine. She had a 2016 Audi A5, and the key blade had worn down to the point where the ignition would catch maybe one out of three tries. She was doing that thing where you jiggle it just right and hold your breath. It had been going on for weeks.
She was not locked out yet, but she knew she was close. The dealer told her she needed a full replacement key, cut and programmed, and to bring the car in. She asked if someone could just come to her.
I came to the car in her driveway. The original blade was genuinely worn, edges rounded down from years of daily use in the ignition and door lock. The transponder situation on a mechanical key job like this is something I always assess on site rather than assume, because some keys that look purely mechanical still carry an anti-theft element you do not want to ignore. I decoded the lock, confirmed the correct key specification for her vehicle from the VIN, and cut a fresh replacement blade to the vehicle.
First turn, it went in clean and came out clean. Ignition cycled without hesitation. I had her run it a few times herself just to feel the difference.
She said the dealer quote was for a whole new key with programming, waiting days for the part. She paid a fraction of that and did not move the car once.
