2004 Ford Excursion Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in Lakeside Proper called me on a Tuesday morning. He had a 2004 Ford Excursion, one of the big ones, parked in his driveway off a side street near the older part of town. His only key had snapped at the base of the blade right at the ignition cylinder. The blade tip was still inside. He had no spare.
His first call was the Ford dealer. They told him it was a half-day job, minimum wait was three days out, and he'd need to get it towed in. He called me after that.
I got there with my extraction tools and my programmer. Got the broken blade tip out of the cylinder without pulling the whole lock. Then I cut a replacement key to the vehicle and programmed the transponder chip to the immobilizer on site. The whole thing took under an hour in his driveway on a normal Tuesday.
He said the dealer quote made it sound like open-heart surgery. It wasn't. It was a broken key and a driveway and the right tools. He saved a good chunk and never moved the truck.
