2005 Ford Freestar Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already heading through Dictionary Hill when the call came in. A woman near the top of the neighborhood had a 2005 Freestar and needed a spare key cut and programmed. She had one working key, her registration, and her ID sitting on the kitchen counter ready before I pulled up. That kind of prep is rarer than it should be.
She mentioned her husband had been putting it off because the dealer quoted them something painful and told them to leave the van for most of a day. She wasn't looking for a story about that. She just wanted the key done.
Because she had a working key, I could use the add-a-key route. I decoded the blade at the door, cut the new key in the van, and then ran the programming sequence through the OBD port to enroll the transponder with the immobilizer and sync the remote. The whole thing took under 30 minutes in her driveway. I tested the new key on start, lock, unlock, and trunk release before I capped my tools.
She handed me back the original and double-checked the new one worked. It did. She said something like, "That's it?" That's it.
The dealer quote was a fraction they'll never see from her now.
