2020 Genesis G90 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near the CSUSM Area in San Marcos, I got a call on a Saturday from a guy who'd spent his morning retracing his steps across a parking lot and coming up empty. He'd lost his only fob for his 2020 Genesis G90. No spare at home, no way into the car, and the dealer's first availability was the following Tuesday with a weekday tow required.
He figured he was stuck.
I told him I'd be there that afternoon. When I pulled up, the G90 was sitting in a sun-baked lot, locked and patient. I used a pick to get the door open without damage, then pulled the key blade profile I needed to cut his emergency insert. That part goes fast. The slower part is the all-keys-lost sequence, because the immobilizer relearn on these has a countdown you just have to respect. I ran it through the OBD port, let the process finish on its own schedule, and registered the new fob as the primary key. Then I cut him a second one, because once is enough to learn that lesson.
He pressed the start button and the G90 lit up on the first try. Forty-five minutes, total, from me pulling in to both keys tested and working.
The dealer comparison came up at the end, the way it usually does. He'd already gotten a quote. The difference was significant, and that's before factoring in the tow and the wait.
