2024 Genesis G90
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2024 Genesis G90 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from someone up in Ramona Highlands on a Tuesday afternoon. She had a 2024 Genesis G90, full-size luxury sedan, parked in her driveway. Her fob had been acting up for about two weeks, range getting shorter, then the push-button start started hesitating, and then one morning the dash threw a key-not-detected warning and the car sat there like a statue.

She had already called the Genesis dealer. They told her to get the car towed in, said they would look at it and go from there. That was going to be a whole production.

I pulled up, popped the fob, and put a fresh CR2032 in to rule that out first. No change. The fob board had a visible stress mark near one corner, the kind you get when the fob takes a fall and lands just right. The key had been dropped in a parking garage a few weeks back. That lined up with when the problems started.

I programmed a new fob to her G90 through the OBD port. The immobilizer accepted it, the push-button start responded immediately, and every one of the seven buttons worked through a full function check. Cut the emergency blade to match, verified it turned the door lock cylinder, done.

She mentioned the dealer quote almost as an aside at the end. It was a lot more than what I charged, and that was before the tow. She saved a good chunk, but the bigger thing was she did not lose her car for two days.
