2015 GMC Yukon Xl
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 GMC Yukon Xl Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Rancho Del Rey, I got a call from a home health aide who was already late for her first patient of the morning.

Her 2015 Yukon XL was sitting in the carport, the fob the vehicle had always known was suddenly getting rejected, and she had no backup key. She figured she was looking at a tow and a dealership visit she couldn't afford to wait on. I told her to stay put.

When I pulled up, the vehicle had no stored key data it was happy with. All-keys-lost on a 2015 Yukon XL is a known procedure - connect to the OBD port, run the GM key learning process through the security handshake, clear the old fob data from the body control module, and register the new fob. The system has a timed sequence built into the learn cycle, so you can't rush it. You just work the steps and let it count down.

New fob, factory FCC ID matching the original, all five buttons confirmed, push-to-start recognized it on the first press. I walked every button before I closed my kit - lock, unlock, the remote functions, and the mechanical insert blade seated clean back in the fob body. She was backing out of the carport before 9am.

She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer would have charged, plus she didn't lose half a day waiting for a tow and a service bay. That's the job. Show up, do it right, let the result speak.
