2017 Hyundai Veloster Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a stretch of Cedros Avenue in the Cedros Design District where people park early and stay late. I got a call from someone who had been parked there most of the afternoon. He walked out to his 2017 Veloster and the start button just sat there. No crank, no response. The dash lit up fine, the battery had juice, but the car wasn't seeing his fob at all.
He'd already tried the usual things. Held the fob closer, moved it around, locked and unlocked a few times. Nothing changed.
I pulled up and the first thing I did was open the fob. The CR2032 inside wasn't dead by a meter reading, but it was low enough that the smart key antenna in the car couldn't get a clean handshake. Swapped the battery, reseated the contacts, and tested every button. Four buttons, all working. Then I walked the door handles to confirm touch unlock was responding on both sides.
He said he'd been ignoring a slow start response for about two weeks and kept writing it off. That's usually how these go. The fob doesn't quit overnight. It fades.
Car started on the first press. He was back inside the design district shops ten minutes after I got there. No tow, no dealer appointment, no waiting.
