2017 Jaguar F-Pace Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Near the CSUSM Area in San Marcos, a local Euro specialist shop called me in on a job that had already gone sideways before I showed up.
Another locksmith had attempted an all-keys-lost procedure on a customer's 2017 F-Pace. Somewhere in the process, the key verification module read failed mid-operation. Power dropped or the wiring was wrong, the original data wasn't backed up beforehand, and the module locked. After that, the car would not accept any fob. Not the one being programmed, not a fresh one, nothing. The shop had the F-Pace sitting in a bay they needed back, and the original locksmith had stopped answering.
When they called me, I came out with the bench programming gear and walked through a proper module recovery. That means reading what was left on the module, reconstructing the key data from the partial dump, writing a clean file to a new fob, and reinstalling everything in the correct sequence. The factory fob for this vehicle is a 5-button smart key, and getting it to communicate again after a botched job takes more steps than a clean all-keys-lost from scratch.
Total time was close to two hours. Clean jobs on this platform run shorter, but recovery work takes what it takes.
The car left running that afternoon. The shop wanted to know what went wrong so they could explain it to the customer, and honestly that part of the conversation is just as important as the fix. A bad AKL attempt on a modern European vehicle isn't just a failed key job. It can leave the module in a state that needs real recovery work to undo.
