I got a call from a college student staying near CSUSM in San Marcos. He was already stressed before he finished explaining the situation.
A different locksmith had tried to program a replacement key to his 2010 Jeep Patriot, quit halfway through, and left. The Jeep would not recognize any key at all after that. Not the original, not the new one. The other locksmith charged him for the attempt anyway and told him to go to the dealer.

I cleared the faults, verified the system was back to a clean baseline, and ran a full all-keys-lost sequence from scratch. That means the old keys got wiped too, which is the only way to start clean when the memory is in that condition. His 4-button remote head key programmed on the first attempt. I walked him through the confirmation on my screen so he could see the key was fully accepted.
The Jeep started on the first turn. He sat there for a second like he was waiting for something to go wrong.
The dealer had quoted him significantly more than what I charged, and that was just to fix what the other locksmith broke. I did not add a surcharge for the cleanup. Cleaning up a partial programming mess is part of doing the job correctly, not a separate line item.
