2018 Kia Sedona Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
In North El Cajon, a home health aide called me about her 2018 Sedona. The fob shell was cracked down the side and one of the sliding door buttons had worn through to bare rubber. The fob still worked, mostly, but she was pressing harder than she should have been and the blade was starting to feel loose in the housing.
The dealer had already given her a number. Full key replacement. She told me what they quoted and I didn't argue with it. I just told her what I could do instead.
I pulled up to her driveway with replacement shells and my programming gear. She watched me pop the electronics out of the old cracked housing and seat them into the new shell. The internals were completely fine: the circuit board, the transponder, all of it. Nothing wrong there. New shell, fresh CR2032, blade cut to her vehicle, buttons tested one by one including both sliding doors and the liftgate.
When I handed it back to her she stood at the driver door and clicked through every button twice. She was waiting for something not to work. It all worked.
The dealer's quote was for a whole new key because that is the only option they offer. It is not the only option. She paid a fraction of what they wanted, and her vehicle never left the driveway.
