2019 Kia Sedona Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Del Mar Heights is mostly residential, quiet streets, people who have places to be. I got a call late on a weekday from a traveling nurse who was staying near the area while on assignment. Her only fob for a 2019 Kia Sedona had stopped being recognized by the van. Not a dead battery, not a range issue. The van just wouldn't acknowledge it existed.
She'd already called the dealer. They told her to tow it in and said they could look at it the following afternoon. She was working a morning shift. Towing a minivan to a dealer lot and waiting a day-plus for a service appointment wasn't something she could absorb.
She found me online and I was out there that same evening.
The van was in a parking area off the street. I pulled the fob apart first -- the CR2032 was sitting slightly off-axis, contact wasn't solid. Reseated it, retested. The van still wasn't registering the fob reliably. At that point I connected through the OBD port, retrieved the vehicle's security PIN, and used my programmer to wipe the old fob registration and enroll a fresh one. Cut the emergency blade on site to match the door.
Walked every function: door lock, unlock, the sliding doors, liftgate button, panic. All clean.
She had a working key before 9 PM. The dealer route would have been a tow bill, a day of waiting, and a shop rate on top of the key cost. She saved a good chunk and didn't miss her shift.
