If a new battery doesn't fix it, the fob itself may need to be replaced and re-enrolled.

Third, a small number of owners have reported that interference from aftermarket accessories tied into the OBD port -- like third-party GPS trackers or insurance dongles -- can cause intermittent recognition issues. Unplugging those and retesting is a free diagnostic step.

If the dash is showing a key-not-detected warning during the start attempt rather than just ignoring the button, that's the immobilizer telling you it sees the fob but isn't accepting it. That usually means re-enrollment is needed rather than just a battery swap.
