Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2024 Lexus RZ Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

The Crosby is quiet on a weekday morning. Gated, well-kept, the kind of neighborhood where people do their homework before they make a call.

This owner had done hers. She found my BSIS license number on my site, pulled it up on the state database before she ever dialed, and mentioned it the moment I pulled up in the van. Her last experience with a locksmith had ended with a receipt that had no company name, no license number, and a phone number that stopped working within a week. She wasn't going through that again.

Her 2024 Lexus RZ needed a spare smart key. She had the original fob working fine, but one key on a battery-electric vehicle with no cylinder to fall back on felt like a risk she didn't want to carry. Smart thinking. On a push-button system like the RZ, if you're down to zero working fobs, you're not driving anywhere until someone with the right tools shows up.

I had the correct fob in the van. Programming on the RZ goes through the OBD port using professional diagnostic equipment, and the process ties back into the vehicle's security system to register the new fob. No workarounds, no residual fault codes sitting in the system afterward. I walked her through a full function check after: door handles, start button, all four buttons on the new fob.

She got a real receipt with my license number printed on it, a real company name, and a real phone number. The kind of paper trail that means something if she ever needs to call back.

The dealer had quoted her a wait for parts and a service appointment days out. She handed me back the new fob, looked at it for a second, and said it was exactly what she wanted the first time around.
