Does the 2025 Lexus RZ smart key have a hidden emergency blade inside it?

Yes. There's a mechanical blade tucked inside the fob body. There's a small release tab on the fob, press it and the blade slides out. That blade fits the driver door cylinder and lets you physically unlock the door if the fob battery dies completely or the keyless system isn't communicating.

Worth knowing on an RZ specifically: if the 12-volt auxiliary battery in the car is fully depleted, the keyless antennas won't power up, and the fob won't be detected no matter how fresh the CR2032 is. Charge or jump the 12-volt system first. On the RZ the jump terminals are under the hood. Once the auxiliary battery has enough charge, the keyless system comes back up and the fob should register normally. If the warning persists after the 12-volt is confirmed good, then we start looking at the fob itself or the antenna system. But nine times out of ten on these calls, it's the auxiliary battery, not the key.

I bought a replacement fob online for my 2025 RZ. Can I program it myself?
