2019 Lexus UX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2019 Lexus UX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Underground parking garage in San Ysidro, close to the Las Americas Area, 10 at night. A guy called me with zero keys for his 2019 Lexus UX. Not a spare tucked somewhere, not a valet key in a drawer at home. Nothing. He had already checked the elevator, the stairwell, retraced his steps twice. The fob was gone.

He was ready to call a tow because he figured nobody could help him until the dealer opened in the morning. He did not have his registration with him, did not know his VIN off the top of his head, and the garage lighting was doing him no favors.

I told him to look at the base of the windshield on the driver's side. He found the VIN. Then I told him to open his insurance app. The policy card was right there with the full number. That was all I needed. With the VIN confirmed, I already knew exactly what fob system the UX runs, prepped the correct key before I left, and headed to him.

I worked under the garage lights. New smart fob, registered to his vehicle through the diagnostic port, tested every function before I handed it over. He also got the walkthrough on where the emergency blade lives inside the fob, because most UX owners have no idea it is in there.

He drove home that night. No tow, no waiting for the dealer to open, no second trip anywhere. The dealer route would have meant a tow first, then waiting for an appointment, then parts potentially being ordered. We skipped all of that. The VIN is the starting point. If you can get me that number before I arrive, I show up ready.
