A barista at her roommate's apartment in Solana Beach had already been burned once. Another locksmith tried to program a key to her 2015 Volkswagen Beetle, failed partway through, and left error codes in the immobilizer. The previous locksmith had tried to force a procedure meant for a different immobilizer generation. I showed her the clean confirmation on the IM608 screen so she could see it was fully registered this time.
Her VW started clean. Total was $199. Dealer wanted $407 to fix it. I didn't charge extra for the cleanup because that's part of doing the job correctly.
