2014 Dodge Journey Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He called at 9:15pm from the 24-hour laundromat lot in Oxnard. His 2014 Dodge Journey wouldn't start after his overnight janitorial shift ended. Push-to-start did nothing. No dash response, no crank, no lights on key press. He was alone in a dark lot and had to be at his next building by midnight.

The dealer was closed and a tow would just park the truck somewhere overnight. He needed it running now.

I got to the laundromat lot and connected my ACDP to pull the WIN module data. It told me the fob had dropped out of the truck's key memory after a low-voltage event. The vehicle battery was weak and the WIN module had lost the key pairing during a voltage dip while the truck sat in the lot. I charged the battery enough to stabilize the electrical system, then reprogrammed his fob through OBD using the restored module data. His smart key, FCC ID M3N-40821302, was a 4-button smart key. The truck started immediately once the WIN module relearned the fob.

He made it to his next building on time. Total was 287. The dealer would have been 487 the next day plus a tow. The problem wasn't the fob at all. It was a dying battery that caused the WIN module to lose its key registration. That kind of diagnosis is exactly why I carry multiple tools. The first assumption isn't always the right one.
