A diesel mechanic on his lunch break at a muffler shop in Marina West Park, Oxnard, called me about his 2015 Dodge Journey. The Fobik quit mid-morning. He slotted it into the dash, got "Key Fob Not Found" on the EVIC, and the engine would not crank. Just a dead stare from the cluster.

Fresh program, new key ID written, and the security access timer ran its countdown. Total time from plug-in to engine start was about 25 minutes. Most of that was the timed security processing you cannot skip.
He drove back to work after lunch like nothing happened. The irony of a mechanic calling a locksmith is not new to me, but immobilizer programming is a specialty tool game. Most shop techs do not carry these programmers.
